About
I can describe myself in one word: cat lover! Or ailurophile, if yoг prefer a more scientific term.
For nearly 15 years, I was an active member of a cat rescue group in St. Petersburg, Russia. I was lucky to meet and live with many very different, but invariably charming felines. Some of them found new, happy homes. Others, with serious health issues, for whom it was virtually impossible to find caregivers, stayed with me for the rest of their days.
In 2021, I moved from Russia to the United States to be with my fiancé. 4 cats flew across the ocean with me:
- Mouse (wise and introvert tabby female)
- Bagheera (a charming and mischievous black female)
- Fenya (tricolored loveable furball with a cattitude)
- Blackie (shy and affectionate male)
My fiancé's “labradorish” dog, Bella, graciously accepted us, and we've been living quite happily together since that time (though Blackie passed away in 2023).
My biggest dream is to have my own cat shelter with a cat cafe and to provide ongoing support to cats in need and their caregivers, both here in the United States and in Russia.
My husband and I agreed that we won’t foster any cats so far, as 2 of our pets have serious health issues and won’t appreciate any intrusion. Living far from local humane societies made volunteering complicated, which upsets me a lot.
Then I realized that as a writer and a person with a sack of cat stories, I can still be of use. So I’ve started this project in hopes that my passion for cats will inspire people to donate and adopt those wonderful creatures, and that in this way, I’ll continue making a contribution.
Cats (and other animals) deserve our love and care. Let's love them together!
With warmest regards,
Kitty Burgundy
